The Ponies
Major - 13 hh , born in 1995
Major is a Welsh Section chestnut gelding. He came to us on loan in late September 2009 and is now owned by the Group. He is quite a character and it took over six months before we let him into the same field with our other ponies and he is now the boss.
Albert - 13.2 hh , born in 1995
Albert is a very keen, chunky, bay gelding. He came to our Group via our website and was collected from Fifield on Tuesday, 18th October 2011. He is in the same field as Casper and they are already joined at the hip! It will take a bit longer with our other pony, Major.
Albert has been a driving pony all his life and can also be ridden. It is very much hoped he will pass the RDA assessment test during this winter so we will have three ponies for our disabled members.
Casper - 9.3 hh , born in 1996
Then there is Casper – a grey Shetland. He's been with us since 2003. He's on permanent loan from the Welfare section of the British Horse Society. They found him in an appalling state but he has made up for lost time and is now portly. He's great fun with a fantastic character and has turned out to be a real bonus for our members.
Casper features in one of the triptych paintings of British horses which were painted by Nikki Moore to mark The British Horse Society’s Diamond Jubilee.
See below two panels of the fabulous triptych painting. You will see Casper immortalised on the left hand panel!
